On Lake Chautaugua, opening weekend for Bass & Muskie. Me and my brother were out for 31/2hrs casting 10" jerkbaits. Near the end of our morning I made a long cast, moments later I boated a 51", 30lb Muskie. I had a goal of only 1 over 40" for the wall. This was the first legal and largest of a summer where I caught 5 over 40".

Just remember the first time on Lake Amistad with Tom Taijeron and made the mistake of staying out by marker 20 too long before the wind hit. What a wave that was.

Being swamped in a 14 foot johnboat with 2 other guys in 4 foot swells, he had to wade and pull the boat to a big island until the wind died down.

Me and Mike Moodt were at Cedar Creek on a windy day, and the chances of sticking a good fish were slim. Mike pulled into a small cut, and I threw a black colored Baby Sluggo next to a bush. The water opened up like a 5 gallon bucket and swallowed my bait. I had just stuck the biggest fish I had ever seen. I got her up to the side of the boat and I was trembling so bad. I had her head up in the air for what seemed to be 15 minutes. I yelled to Mike to get the net and then I just stared down at her mouth. I couldn’t do nothing but look at her. I could have reached down and lipped her but I couldn’t move. She jumped up in the air and threw the hook. I turned to mike and said, "Where’s the net?" He said, "What net, I don’t have a net." I asked him, "What were you doing." He said, "Looking at the fish like you were." I had what hunters call "Buck Fever" but I had "Big Bass Fever". Me and Mike both know it was 10 or 11lbs without a doubt. What a dumb ass I was to loose such a big fish.

Favorite Club Memory: The day John Curlee introduced me to the Cen-Tex Bass Hunters.  Since then my life has been enriched with more memories and friends than possible to list in this space.

Funniest Fishing Memory:  The Top Six Team getting eaten alive by fleas in the cabin we rented right off the water on Toledo Bend.  We still have scars from all the bed bugs we became appetizers for.  The property owners sprayed and we’ve stayed there several times since.  The following year, Don Schuetze and his alleged accomplices loaded up my sheets with fake ants, spiders and all sorts of critters.  After respooling some gear, I jumped in the sack after the entire team had already turned in and blew out the lamps (or so I thought).  Within a nanosecond I was hovering 3 feet over the bed and the entire cabin was laughing their “not so funny” butts off!

My definition of "time passing slowly:"  Spending a year in Iraq with Randy Sitz and only getting to talk about fishing and looking at boats on the internet.
